MAKING MATCHING SETS

I love the whole industrial, urban look when it comes to blog pictures, but really... My life isn't that urban. I'm definitely not outdoorsy, but I've grown up with the Peak District a short trip away and it's always these scenic spots where I end up taking pictures. I guess I still find posing your heart out in the city centre a little daunting, but I'm working on it!

Here we'd actually headed out to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park to check out the KAWS exhibition. Definitely worth a trip if you're into that sort of thing! I realised pretty quickly though that my outfit wasn't that practical... White trainers? Not my best idea. They did get a bit sludged up, but it was worth it. I mainly wanted to wear them to go with the grey. The top & trousers aren't actually a set, but it turns out most of my clothes are the same colours and I can just match things up myself these days. Lol. The leggings are oldies, but the top I picked up a few weeks back in ZARA. I think it could be unisex... It's just really oversized and simple, a really good basic for my wardrobe.

Hair here is a total copycat of the lovely Lydia Elise Millen's high ponytail, but I'd watched her tutorial that morning and got all inspired for jazzing up my dry-shampoo-ed-to-death mop. I've since worn it like this a few times for work and loved it... It just feels a lot smarter than my usual do!

SPRING LOOKBOOK

The bank holiday weekend seemed like the perfect time to get filming a Spring Lookbook, even if the weather wasn't quite so appropriate... We woke up to snow this morning! Ugh. Even still, I've been updating my wardrobe with a few pieces ready for warmer weather arriving. I love that bare leg season is just on the horizon... Picking out looks is so much easier when you haven't got to think if it'll go with tights.

I'm really excited to have added some lighter colours to my life too. This season I'm really into blush pinks, creams and nudes. Everything I've gone for is still very neutral, but a reasonable step away from black. It's nice to feel a little more feminine! If you're after any of the products then I've linked to all the ones I can find online in the video below.

It's now time for me to go eat even more chocolate. Can anyone remember what being hungry actually feels like?! Hope you've all had a lovely Easter anyhoo!

PARIS FASHION WEEK | OUTFIT ONE

Everything feels way more glamorous in Paris. Fact. I know, fashion week comes with a certain level of glam anyway, but Paris just felt so swish and fabulous. I came back with serious Parisian wardrobe lusting – flouncy skirts and satiny fabrics are on my ‘to buy’ list.

While I didn’t feel quite so Parisian (that ‘How to be Parisian’ book is also on my wish list), I still felt way more glam in the city of lurrrrve. It’s amazing what a big pair of sunglasses can do for you – the Céline Audrey sunnies are my go-to for glam-ing things up. They hide eye bags and I can pretend I’m wearing a full face of makeup when I’ve got them on. Happy days!

The two-piece I’m wearing is actually a super casual one, an option I’d usually go for as lounge wear rather than as a smarter option. The t-shirt is really baggy with an asymmetric hem, but I’ve just tucked it in here to feel more put together. With my big Topshop boots, it didn’t feel quite as casual. I thought this set was a good purchase for Paris, as I know I’ll get loads of wear out of it now my life is back to being less than glamorous! In fact, the next look it’ll feature in will probably be on Easter Sunday, paired with slippers, a scruffy bun and a sickening amount of chocolate.

MY CITY, MY STYLE

Top & Jeans - H&M
I love being a northern girl. Yeah, I’ve got that particularly strong Sheffield accent, but I’m also incredibly proud of coming from a dynamic area that I’m constantly inspired by. Today I’m collaborating with H&M on their #MyCityMyStyle campaign, sharing my city diary with you… I’ll be using an outfit from their latest Spring collection as an excuse to head off to some of my favourite places, and fill you in on why they inspire my style. It’s a collection I can’t wait to wear as we head out of colder months – think feminine styles with denim and delicate detailing. Just the right vibe for rocking in the city over Spring.
Kelham Island
First stop - Kelham Island. I love to have a trip to Kelham, as it’s got some gorgeous settings for blog pictures, as well as being my favourite place to head for breakfast – waffles at The Grind are a must. Kelham is having an ongoing facelift, now home to plenty of cute cafes, restaurants and swish offices, whilst retaining Sheffield’s industrial background. I think it makes it the perfect contrast for showing off this floaty shirt… I’ve dressed it up here a little, but I can’t wait to wear it extra casual when the warmer Spring days arrive.
Park Hill
Not only is Park Hill a favourite for fans of architecture (it’s the largest listed building in Europe), but it’s also the place I work. It’s quickly become a hotspot of creatives, full of modern flats and businesses. While it’s quite a love it or hate it building, I think it’s great that they’ve retained the real character of it – my favourite part of it is the ‘I love you will you marry me’ graffiti, which has now become a Park Hill emblem. The idea of embracing identity is something I translate to my own style – I love a new trend, but it’s all about a personal way of wearing it that works for you. When it comes to #MyCityMyStyle, I feel like Park Hill is an obvious choice for me.
The Antiques Areas - Nichols Building
Ahhh the Nichols building. From vintage clothing to art deco cabinets perfect for a Pinterest worthy home, I love visiting to get some style inspiration for mixing the old with the new. The jeans I’m wearing today are just what I go for when I’m taking on vintage shopping in the city – I like something comfy and casual, that I can dress up with a an embellished top like this.

I feel like Sheffield can often be a little overlooked as a city, but I think we can all find style inspiration in our surroundings. The #MyCityMyStyle collection is one that really gets that city look – it’s an eclectic mix, encapsulating the cool, urban vibes I get from my favourite locations in the city. Mixing fun and feminine styles with refined details, sunshine ready prints and sheer fabrics, it’s one of those collections that you can really work into your own style… I’m already thinking how I can wear this flouncy shirt on holiday too!

As part of #MyCityMyStyle, there’s a chance to win a £50 H&M voucher on my Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. All you have to do is comment or reply to one of my posts sharing how your city inspires your style and tag a friend. You’ve got until the 26th of March to enter… Really looking forward to having a flick through your replies!

FIVE NEW FAVOURITES

I wasn't planning on uploading a video today, but somehow I managed to edit quicker than my usual snail's pace. Today think haul/favourites - I had a couple of bits that were new in, but also items I've been using/wearing none stop since I purchased them. I much prefer doing shorter videos where I can just show you a few bits, rather than big collective ones where I end up going off talking about what my cat's having for tea. Now that's when it can take me 6 hours to edit. Ha.

This weekend has whizzed by, so I'm off now to make the most of what's left of it. I'm being a boring Bertha - putting on my PJs, sticking a candle on and watching the next episode of Thirteen. Have any of you been watching it?! I binged on the first three episodes and I'm hooked.

As ever, all product details and links are in the video below :)

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A BLOGGER WHEN...

I'd be the first to admit that as a blogger, I can be a bit of a cliché. Gimme some marble accessories and let me live my life online. Okay, slight exaggeration, but I do think I'm now accustomed to a blogging way of life. Happily so... Blogging is my favourite hobby and while I still have grumpy days, I love that it's still as important to me after three years. So, get prepared... Here are the First World Problems that come with recognising you're a blogger.

1. You've worked out the level of difficulty that comes with taking a candid picture.
2. Posts about blogger tips are basically your bible.
3. You realised that most purchases can be justified with 'I can blog about it'.
4. You could do a degree in Facetune. In fact you could probably run lectures on it.
5. You start to see freebies as work. As nice and wonderful as they are, that's four hours taking pictures and editing an outfit post to get a nice picture in those flared jeans.
6. You can't help but get a bit fan-gurrrl-y when your favourite blogger likes your picture on Instagram.
7. You've realised you actually wear the same sort of outfit and the same sort of makeup every day of your life.
8. Your online network is bigger than your real life network. Tweeting > talking.
9. Your friends have given up on being able to take you anywhere without you seeing it as a good photo op. Tagging along to B&Q you say? I can work my blogger pose in that fitted kitchen.
10. You have nightmares about seeing 'your startup disk is full'.
11. Every time you think you've aced a blog post it turns out to be the one that no bugger reads.
12. Your handbag fits two cameras, a phone, a back up charger and a variety of accessories.
13. You spend a large portion of your time looking at other bloggers and deciding you're giving up, moving to some wilderness and wearing beige for the rest of your life.
14. Other bloggers influence you big time. Seen my blogging fave mention a primer on Twitter? Yeah, I'll buy that.
15. A life concern is what people think of the 'real' you. This face ain't looking like it does with the Valencia filter.
16. You've thought about how adopting a baby animal would give your Instagram feed a real boost.
17. You've cried about wifi. Or computer problems. Or when your memory card deletes everything and ruins your life.
18. You're constantly writing blog plans that go out the window the minute life gets in the way. Good intentions.
19. You don't delete anything. 'Cause you never know when you might need that 20th blurry pic of your new heels.
20. You generally give less of a sh*t. For me, that's the most comforting thing I've found with blogging. The more I stand taking outfit pictures in the street and the more I upload daft videos to YouTube, the less I'm bothered about what people think. Hurrahhhh.
