NEW IN: BENEFIT OPERATION PORE PROOF

Benefit have just launched their Operation Pore Proof kit and with my pores having the tendency to take over my face, I thought it'd be a great one to try out. Especially at this time of year.. This gal is shiiiine central. With 5 minis in this box of treats there's plenty to try out if you're looking to deal with shine and pore problems.

One of the cult products in there is the Porefessional primer, a product I've used before and loved - it's not too balmy like I find with some other primers and quickly mops up excess oil. I like that it has a bit of colour too so it doesn't just feel like you're slapping a load of silicone stuffs on your chops. I wouldn't use it every day, but when I'm really wanting my makeup to 'set' then this is a go-to.

The License to Blot is another favourite, mostly because I'm surprised that it actually works both under and over makeup, without being cakey or smudging all your hard work off. I just think it's handy to pop in my handbag ready for any oily t-zone bouts.

My last love from the set is the Shy Beam highlighter.. Big yes to a matte highlight! With my oily skin I generally go for matte makeup, so this is the dreamy kind of glow I've been after.

I always like a good Benefit set when your makeup routine needs a bit of an update, plus they're a fail safe birthday/Christmas present right?!

FESTIVAL HAIR TUTORIAL

Just a quick 'do' today.. I wouldn't say it needs a tutorial as such (it is after all just some scruffy buns), but I was feeling all inspired by Glastonbury & had a bit of time to film it. It just sucks that I was only popping my hair up like this due to it being sticky hot at home and bot because I'm actually at Glasto doing all fun festival things. I so want to go next year now.. But then I say this every year. One day!

Anyhoo, my Glastonbury dreaming is kind of unrelated. I just think this would be a hair do I'd definitely go for if I was there.. Let's be honest, I dunno if I can pull this off when I'm just off to ASDA to pick out a meal for one. Lol.

SHOULDER FLASH

Top - USC, Bag - La Moda, Jeans - Primark, Heels - New Look

Seen as I've been doing my girly bit (the odd skirt, braving heels etc.), I've ended going back to black jeans today. Easily done right? It probably wasn't my best idea seen as it's still ridiculously humid, but everyone needs a quick and easy outfit.. In fact for me the majority of the time it's a quick and easy outfit.

I was just wearing this to pop out for some food the other night. It wasn't anything fancy, but I decided I needed heels so I didn't feel too casual. Heels always have that sassy effect I think.. They just make me feel a little bit more confident seen as I'm blessed with short legs. Providing I don't hit the deck in them. The jeans are just those ones from Primark that I stuck some rips in - I was going to buy some ready done but it seems a bit daft when it literally takes two minutes. On the shoulder flashing top front I'm in another newbie from USC. It's really simple but I know I'll wear it loads. I love that off the shoulder sort of thing and it drapes well without being completely shapeless.

Time to go.. I've got pulled pork to eat, nails that need some TLC and could do with catching up on some chill time before Kanye at Glasto. Yeah, he's a full on pleb but I feel like I need to watch it.. Plus I can't help but want to spot Kimmy K. My Saturday nights are craaayyyzy.

NAVY TWO PIECE

Sunglasses - Ray Ban, Two Piece - c/o USC, Sandals - Office

Officially feeling summery. Yeah, it hasn't been that sunny up in Sheffield, but it's warm and I can just about brave bare legs without feeling totally ridiculous. In miserable UK standards I'm thinking that's a good start.

This little two piece is helping with the summer vibes.. It's such a cute number for the jols. I'll be popping it in my case for Greece - I'm thinking it'll be nice worn like this on day trips then popped over a bikini at the beach. I go in two weeks so I'm starting to plan a few outfits and get beyond excited. Bring on sunshine, chilling out and bronzing up.

FAVOURITE MAC NUDES

Even though I try to add a bit of colour to my lipstick life, I can't help but go back to a good nude. I'm always a bit 'matchy-matchy', so generally I like a lipstick to go with what I'm wearing.. With nude I think that natural sort of thing always seems to 'go'? I know everyone's a bit obsessed with MAC for lippy, but I do on a whole love them. Anyhoo.. Here are a few that I'm always reaching for!

L-R
Viva Glam II
I think this is quite a greyish nude.. Maybe a little cooler?

Kinda Sexy
The perfect nudey-pink. I generally prefer brown toned nudes, but if I'm feeling something a little more feminine then this is a go-to.

Please Me
Well, this is probably more pink than nude. I usually just dab it on over another lippy though. I don't wear it often with being a bit of a pink wimp, but I think it's a nice one to have.

Velvet Teddy
I lusted after this one for a while with it always being sold out. I do love it. I just think it's quite a sultry colour.. Is that even a thing? Like it's girly without being too Barbie.

Hue
Yup, there isn't much to show on this one seen as I've just about used it all up. When I'm just after some colour on my lips without anything too 'done up' this is the one I go for. It's creamy almost like a lip balm, but still gives you a nice bit of pink.

Yash
My most recent nude. Very similar to Velvet Teddy, but I think more yellow toned than pink. I do find the Velvet Teddy/Whirl combo can be a bit difficult to wear (I like it best with warm eyeshadow), so I opt for this one as more of a true neutral.

Honey Love
Probably my all time favourite. It's really matte with enough colour to keep it natural without making you look like your lips blend in with your face. When I'm travelling this is the one out of all that I take with me.

JUNE LOOKBOOK

Y'know these lookbook things? They're hard. For me it involves another level of room rearrangement and the editing feels like it's my life's work. It takes me so long! I don't know how proper YouTubey/Vlogger folk do it.. I need about 2 weeks preparation ha.

Anyway, I did get chance to film a few outfits I've been wearing this month.. They're pretty much thrown together in a mishmash but you get the idea. A whole lot of monochrome stuff, but I guess I'm still yet to get back to the bright summer stuff.. I'm thinking I need to be much more bronzed for that.

Right, time to go because it's Sunday and I feel like pyjamas before 7pm is definitely okay. All the details are in the video if you're looking for the outfit stuffs! :)

BLACK TWO PIECE

Two Piece - ZARA, Heels - New Look

You know when you just find that outfit that's pretty much everything you like about clothing and you want to wear it forever? That's this outfit. It's bringing me back to being a little more feminine, is typically monochrome and shows off the bits I want to show off (whilst covering up my curvier bottom half). Plus it was pretty cheap - I think it came to just over £20 for the two piece.

The shoes are the ones I mentioned in my last post.. I did worry they could look a little bit like I was wearing an out on probation tag, but I love them on. Glam without being OTT? I needed something simple like this as my go-to heel so I'm glad I got them.

For once that's all stuff that should still be in stores/online! I feel a bit useless sometimes when I'm blogging about clothes I've had for years, not something that you can just head into Topshop & pick up. I guess I don't buy clothing very often and my favourites are usually just old wardrobe favourites!

NEW: HEELS & NARS CULT PRODUCTS

Heels - New Look, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Honey) & Illuminator (Orgasm)

I've been trying to reign in the spending a bit recently.. I don't know when I got into this whole 'I'm in my twenties, I work hard, I can buy whatever the hell I like' notion but it needs to stop before I end up living on crisp sandwiches for the rest of eternity.

I did have reason to buy a couple of newbies though. I was heading on a night out and some of you may have also seen on Twitter/Instagram that I've just got a new job! All very exciting. I feel like I've been a bit absent from blogging recently with all this life stuff going off, but I'm hoping this new job will make blogging life a lot easier. I'll probably update you all on YouTube about goings on with me at some point.. It's not that exciting but there are a few new things I can mention!

Anyway, new job = new heels & makeup required. I feel like it's justified. I'd been wanting to try a few 'cult' products from NARS so went for their Radiant Creamy Concealer & the Orgasm Illuminator. I think I'll really start using the illuminator on my hols when I'm a bit more bronzed, but I've been using the concealer loads to date. I'm in love with this shade - it's got a pinky undertone which is really helping to cancel out the yellowness I tend to get with my complexion.

On the heels front I was going for something I can comfortably walk in without feeling like a boring Bertha. These are just the right height yet they don't feel too uninspiring.

MY FAVOURITE QUOTES

Grab the sick buckets, it's about to get cringey. Nahhh, I'm hoping this isn't actually too much of a v
om fest. I'm not really the overly emosh sort, but I do love these life quotes.. My phone gallery is forever full of screenshots with little sayings like this that I think are relevant. Just don't expect anything about love, how life is a journey or stuff along the YOLO lines.

'You'll never look like the girl in the magazine, the girl in the magazine doesn't even look like the girl in the magazine'
I've shared this one on Twitter before (I think this was actually some daft quote from a reality TV show?!) as I do think it goes well with the particularly image focused blogging world. It's not just pressure to look like that Vogue cover gal these days, it's that crazy beautiful girl on Instagram or that blogger with a VS Angel like body. Whoever it is though, it's easy to compare.. Even when you know filters, good lighting & a good bit of photoshop can all play a part.

'Blowing out someone else's candle won't make yours shine brighter'
Another favourite. I just don't get folk that feel good about peeing on someone else's parade. There's just no fun in being a Debbie downer, nor does it improve your situation. I dunno, I guess I'd like to think most people feel the same way.

'Your only limit is you'
This kind of summarises myself when I'm not pushing myself to be a 'yes' girl. I can easily talk myself out of things through being a total wimp. These days I try to not limit myself through being a scaredy cat, even if it means pushing myself out of my comfort zone completely.

'The things you take for granted someone else is praying for'
Eeeesh now we're getting a bit deep. This is my favourite for a reality check though. Yeah, we all moan about spots and putting on a bit of chub, but I do have to remind myself that there are bigger problems other than having a shit eyebrow day.

So they're the ones that I feel like I can relate to (without being embarrassed about being too much of a cringeville person). Let me know if you've got any favourites in the comments.. Always keen to add to my list of relevant life quotes!

EXTRA LONG LENGTHS

Hair by The Blow
Hair Extensions - Hair Rehab London
Hair Rings - Regal Rose

For someone who lives life with a mostly dishevelled sort of hair do (forever trying to pass things off as 'beachy waves'), this super slick look is a bit of a turn around - I really like it though. I'm always a bit wary of straight hair in fear of looking like Dougal off the Magic Roundabout, but I love how sleek and simple this is. As my hair is pretty fine the Hair Rehab London clip ins worked wonders on making my hair appear much more My Little Pony like. The only problem when I wear these extensions is that I spend the day playing with my locks.. It's just so silky and a whole lot easier to whizz up chunky braids!

The top knot is all Ariana Grande. I may not have her sass but I'm willing to work on it with a half up/half down do. It's all plaited up with a few of the Regal Rose hair charms added in there.. Love these for jazzing up a regular braid!

I better be on my way now.. I'm off for Wagamamas soon (what is a blogger's life without this place?) and I'm in desperate need of a cat nap before I chow down on Katsu curry goodness. It's the weekend, naps are allowed.

OOTN: BALLERINA VIBES

Dress - Boohoo, Heels - New Look
This is an actual OOTN. Yup, a real life, fully fledged outfit for an evening out. Lol. I've been so busy recently that the social life has hit an all time low.. It's nice to finally get back to having the odd occasion to wear something a bit more glam!

I did stick to the basics seen as I'm typically a more casual kind of girl. LBD & heels. It is quite ballerina like don't you think? For me that's down to the drop waist skirt and those strappy heels.. It all just feels extra feminine.

The heels are newbies..I lobbed all my 'uni heels' after realising I could no longer walk in them. Apparently I'm still no good at walking in anything this high, but we're working on it. I'll be feeling like a sassy pants until I deck it, Bambi on ice style. They're worth the risk.

GETTING GIRLY

Hat - H&M, Dress - ZARA, Boots - Deichmann

I had that whole 'I dress like a boy' moment over the weekend. Y'know, when you've got into that whole rut with wearing jeans every day of your life and the girly side is calling out to you. With that I stuck a dress on and went off to buy the most feminine top (it has daisies on) and skirt I could find. Now it's a little warmer I'm just ready to get rid of the trousers/top combo.

Having said that, I did stick to my somewhat boyish boots. Little dresses like this with black boots will always be one of my favourites.

COACHELLA INSPIRED FESTIVAL BRAIDS

I haven't posted a video on here for a while so I thought while I'm on a roll I'll get it up. I've been so busy recently that keeping my blog going is difficult, never mind YouTube. I do actually love doing videos. I find it's extra creative and a bit more of a challenge to make things look good in that more 'real life' sort of thaaang.. There's no chance of hiding those flyaway hairs or the fact that you put a bit too much blusher on today (may or may have not happened in previous clips). I've got a few bits to edit over the next couple of weeks so that should give me something to get going with.

Anyway, this hair do is based on Kate Bosworth's Coachella look (yep, I'm running pretty late with this one).. Hers was a lot more precise than mine which I loved, but it's likely that I'm just way more dishevelled than she is anyway.. Doesn't she always look a dream?! I went a bit more relaxed with it.. Loose waves instead of the slicked back look and slightly more fluffed up with the braid. There was no chance that extra chubby cornrow was going to be perfect. With loads of festivals coming up I think this'd be something a bit different.. I think I'll probably go for it on holiday when I've got an excuse to get some beachy vibes going on!

CHRISTOPHER KANE FOR NARS: WEARING NEONEUTRALS

I’ve definitely got a bit of a thing for fashion and beauty collaborations. It takes two of my favourite things and pops them together for a mash up that suits me down to a tee. When I heard about the Christopher Kane for NARS collection it was indeed one for me to get a bit giddy about. I’m a big NARS fan (what is a world without Laguna bronzer?), and the Christopher Kane influence sounded ideal – taking the vibrant neons and finding those neutrals that complement them perfectly.

For me, I can add this collection into my get ready routine in stages. With my typically monochrome outfit I’ll first go for the neutrals, starting with the Silent Nude blush. It hasn’t got that orange undertone you get with a lot of neutral blushes so I love using it a bit like a contour. I then take to the stand out colours – a swipe of highlight on cheeks and eyes before dabbing on some Mezmer Lip Gloss. With nudes to pair with it’s so much easier to build up on the bold.

Up there as one of my favourites is the Violet Atom Multiple. It’s the kind of product that surprises you with not being half as ‘out there’ as a purple stick could suggest. It just attracts the light beautifully and I’m already imagining it swished across my cheeks when I’ve upped my summer glow (currently none existent).

With the sunshine season in mind I’m seeing this as the perfect chance to dabble with some colour and add it into my look.

IN BETWEEN SEASON OUTFIT

Jacket - Topshop, Jumper - c/o Warehouse, Trousers - H&M, Converse - USC

Yeah, not exactly feeling like Spring has sprung for me.. The last few days have just been rubbish weather and I find it so easy to head back to cosy jumpers! I'm all about layering up while it's this funny 'in between season' time. Under this big knit I wore a little basic crop top so I could whip my warmer layer off if it did brighten up (it didn't.. BOO). Bring on that summer sunshine.

The trousers are a pair I forgot about from H&M. They're really simple, probably designed to be worn dressed up but I much prefer them all slouchy with Converse. They're just so comfy!

Right I'm off for today as I'm currently writing this up while I've got a spare 5 min during my lunch break. Everything has been really busy recently.. Blogging/work/life can be chaotic!
