JACK WILLS STYLE TRIBES: CHELSEA SKATER

Dress & Shirt - c/o Jack Wills, Socks - H&M, Boots - Dr. Martens

I love it when sites fetch out their A/W style ideas - it's the kind of inspo you need when you're beginning to sort through your woolies and just end up thinking that you're going to spend the next 6 months dressed like the Michelin man.  This year, Jack Wills have come up with their 'Style Tribes' - a load of outfit options for different styles. I went for Chelsea Skater Girl - mainly because it's that grunge/girly style that I'm always a fan of. Plus, that style included a lot of tartan.. A/W for me is forever about tartan.

I popped the matchy-matchy shirt/dress combo with my favourite old Dr. Martens just because they can stop anything being too girly. I haven't worn them for ages, but I still go back to them over A/W for a comfortable boot that I know I can wear with just about anything.

Head over to the Jack Wills Style Tribes section to see which you'd go for - I'm already obsessing over all the Mini Mod products.. Adding the skinny jeans & Chelsea boots to my Christmas wish list.

TARTAN & DENIM

Necklace - Accessorize, Scarf - c/o Boohoo, Top - Forever 21, Jeans - Topshop, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

August isn't even over yet & I'm back in my cosiest of cosy scarves - this tartan piece from Boohoo. I got it last winter and wore it to death. It's essentially a blanket, so huge and lovely for snuggling up in. I know winter isn't quite with us yet, but it's nice to have something to sling round your shoulders if it does get a little nippy.

The white jeans are the ones I got from Topshop at the start of the summer. I actually haven't worn them as much as I'd have liked to - I guess I am a bit nervy about being 'out there' in them, y'know? They aren't exactly the thing to go for when hiding lumpy-bumpy bits. I'm hoping I'll wear them over winter - I know, white doesn't exactly scream winter fashion - but I think with a big slouchy jumper I'll feel brave enough to wear them more.

FLORAL SHORTS & TASSELS

Hat - H&M, Jacket - c/o Missguided, Top - Forever 21, Shorts - c/o Missguided, Boots - Forever 21

Well this is as summery as it's going to get now - oh how I'm going to miss not having to worry whether or not tights look okay with an outfit! I really take for granted being able to get my legs out over the sunny season.. I love spending my life rolling about in shorts & little dresses - definitely need to move to LA or somewhere suitably hot & fabulous.

The shorts I'm wearing today are a pair I got at the start of the summer - they come with a matching top that makes a dreamy matchy-matchy combo. Today I've just worn them with a Missguided jacket I got a while back. It's my 'one day I shall take you to a festival' jacket. It's made for a weekend of music and sunshine, not my back garden.

WHITE OUTFIT

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Shirt - Charity Shop, Shorts - Primark, Slip Ons - Topshop, Bag - c/o Paul's Boutique

We're indoors - bear with the pictures, I'm working on getting used to this set up once again. I've just had a switcharoo with my room, meaning I've got a tiny bit more room to be taking pictures. What do you reckon to a change of scenery? I'll still go back to the outdoors when I get chance, but sometimes the weather's against me. In fact, most days the weather's against me.

Today's outfit is 'I'm maximising the effect of this tan while I can'.. And how do you maximise your tan? Wear white. Well, I'm hoping that worked. I've grown to love an all white outfit for summer, it's kind of simple and no effort. Who wants to be faffing about too much when you're off out in sticky hot sunshine?

DOROTHY PERKINS STYLE ESSENTIALS - A/W14

Outfit 1 - Shirt, Jeans & Shoes - c/o Dorothy Perkins, Coat - H&M
Outfit 2 - Textured Top, Trousers & Shoes - c/o Dorothy Perkins, Fur Scarf - Zara, Hat - Boohoo

So when Dorothy Perkins asked me to get involved with this A/W style essentials post I was hella' excited. As much as I'm not a fan of colder weather, I probably love A/W fashion a whole lot more. Especially the must have basics that you spend October - February wearing.

My basics this year are the Skinny Roll Up Jeans & the Textured Top - aren't they both lovely?! I've recently discovered that jeans are something I can no longer live without (before all these super soft denims I was never a fan - way too uncomfortable!). I now always go for jeans when I'm not sure what to wear. It's flats and a slouchy top for daytime and heels and some nice shirt for an evening out when I don't want to look like I've tried too hard.. When I've in fact spent a good 20 minutes staring into my wardrobe wondering what I should go for.

The textured top is another wardrobe item I'm going to wear to death this winter. It's just the right kind of thing for layering up with cozy scarves & big thick coats. Dare I say it.. I'm actually getting excited about A/W just thinking about the outfits. Cute winter clothing is definitely the best part of a few months freezing your bits off.

LEOPARD PRINT CAMI

Cami Top - c/o Glamorous, Skirt - River Island, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

This is going to be one of those posts I'll look back on in the deep dark depths of winter and think 'I fudging miss summer'. I'll miss being brown, having a few extra (natural.. for once) highlights and being able to head out in just a strappy top. I'm going to try not to think about it too much and appreciate that I'll soon be able to return to my favourite turtle necks and not have to shave my legs religiously. Sigh. Of. Relief.

I'm actually at Bakewell here (for anyone who hasn't been to Bakewell, it's a cute little place where you find scrummy Bakewell tarts). It's the kind of place you'd take your Nanna for a wander, so I'm just dressed sort of casual. Don't want to be shocking any little oldies into a flatline. The skirt I had last summer, but I still like it. It's a good basic to have but a bit of a change from my plain black maxi skirt. Plus it shoes off my Birks. Got to be showing off the Birks.

CROCHET & TASSLES

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Jacket - Missguided, Crochet Top - Primark, Shorts - Levi's, Boots - Forever 21

Um, did I mention I'm a bit obsessed with this top? Even if I didn't mention it, I'm guessing you'll have worked it out after this is probably the third or fourth post with me wearing it. I'm just getting the most out of everything crochet until it gets a bit too nippy for all that holey stuff.

Plus, this is my if I was at V outfit. Oh how I wish I was wearing this to some fabulous festival, not just for a wander around Sheffield. Did any of you go to V Fest?! If you did, I'm ridonkulously jealous.

Anyhoo, I'm off as I'm writing this up with coffee in hand ready to crash. Now I'm a full-timeeey (feel so grown up it's depressing) I write posts up late at night as a little wind down from a day at work. She says, whilst drinking coffee to keep going a little longer. It makes sense somewhere along the way!

CROPPED TROUSERS & CROPPED TEE

Sunglasses, Necklace & Bracelet - Skiathos Town, T-Shirt - Primark, Cropped Trousers - Missguided, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

Y'know when you buy something basic that becomes the thing you have to stop yourself wearing every single day? That's this tee. Yep, it's nothing special but every time I'm like 'what the fudge am I going to wear today..', I pull out this top, some form of bottoms and hope for the best. I definitely need to pop back to Primark and hunt it down in another colour. Or two.

The cropped trousers are newbies in my wardrobe. I've ended up wearing trousers loads this summer so these are just right for the last few sunny days. Plus they're perfect with my Birkenstocks. Oh it will be a sad day when the it's too cold to wear shoes that feel almost as comfy as slippers. Chunky boots just aren't the same.

LEVI JEANS & A HALTER NECK

Halter Neck - Forever 21, Jeans - Vintage Levi's, Sandals - Office

I'm back in these jeans after once again forgetting about them.. how could I forget about old school Levi's?! I keep thinking I might sell them, then I realise the kind of thing I'll want the moment they're gone. Everyone's got to have a good pair of black jeans in their life right?

Outfit wise I was just off to my usual haunt (Meadowhall) so I wasn't wearing anything fancy. The top is just one I bought for my jollies that I never got round to wearing (along with a host of other stuff I didn't need) - thankfully there's still a bit of warm weather left meaning I can wear it in sunny/not so sunny Sheffield. The sandals are that pair I've worn to death since I got them. They're not too dressy for day but they make my stubby legs look a tiny bit longer. Winner.

SLOUCHY VEST

Tikka - c/o La Moda, Coat - H&M, Vest - Zara, Shorts (just seen) - Levi's, Boots - Forever 21

I'm not sure I can really pull this kind of thing off. I totally freakin' love this little glitzy head thing, but I just wish I was a little bit cooler for it. It's made for the Rat & Boa kind of girl who has a much more exciting life than I do. The most excitement I get is a trip to Ikea, not a weekend at a festival or in Beeefa. Anyhoo, my lack of excitement in life doesn't at all relate to how cute these La Moda headpieces are. I just wish I had a fancy pants place to wear one to!

Seen as it is such sparkly little thing, I just decided to pop a lazy day outfit with it. Who doesn't love a  slouchy vest on their day off? I've worn this one from Zara so much - it's a size too big but that makes it extra perfect. It just doubles the comfy factor.

LILAC GRAFEA RUCKSACK

Rucksack - c/o Grafea, Top - Topshop, Shorts - Primark, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

So say hello to my new favourite item in my wardrobe. I arrived home from holiday to this Grafea rucksack & it made returning to grey Sheffield much nicer. What do you think to it?! I'm obsessed. It's made beautifully, like it really looks like it's been crafted by the gods of leather goods construction. Who knew a rucksack could bring so much enthusiasm eh?!

Seen as this bag is pretty darn special, I didn't go for anything fancy outfit wise. The garden was looking perfectly colour co-ordinated so I decided to go for an all white outfit (this was mainly a last attempt to flash my tan before it finally disappears..). Next time I'll probably wear it with some sort of floral print to maximise all that pastel girly-ness.

PAISLEY TOP & WHITE SHORTS

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Kimono - H&M, Top - c/o Missguided, Shorts - Primark, Flip Flops - Primark

I told you I managed to be quite good at packing 'mix&match' holiday gear - is this the second post with this neon kimono now?! I mainly popped it in my case to avoid wearing all monochrome outfits, although I did still opt for the black & white thaaang more than regularly.

Have I blogged about this little vest top yet? It's nothing fancy, just quite a cheap one from Missguided but I do indeedy like it. I guess it's just a less boring take on the usual, boring black or white top I go for.

I do believe this is the end of the holiday outfits - hopefully it's not been too boring for everyone, I know I've dragged it out beyond belief but it's rare that I get somewhere different to take pictures. On another unrelated note, I am now working full time (yup, I'm officially a grown up and it's bloody scary), which means life is obviously a lot busier. I'm Queen of OCD organisation when it comes to my blog (why can I not be like this with the rest of my life?!) so I'll still be posting every other day - my life is scheduled. Ha.

NEON BIKINI & CROCHET

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Bikini - H&M, Top - Primark, Rings - c/o La Moda, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

Now, this bikini is quite an old purchase. Some of you might remember it from H&M's summer season maybe a couple of years ago? I bought it in the hope that I'd be off to somewhere fabulously exotic - unfortunately the closest I got to 'exotic' was Cleethorpes. Not quite what I was thinking.

It has since been in a drawer, lurking there hoping that one day I'd actually get to wear it - providing I did actually book a holiday and my ass didn't get significantly bigger (we squeezed into it - only just, but it was a victory all round). I wore this on one of my last days in lovely Skiathos - hence why I'm a tad browner than I am in some of the other posts. If only it didn't have to peel off in snake skin esq style!

Yup, I'm wearing that Primark crochet top again too. Can you tell I tried to pack things that I could mix & match?! I think I did quite well really. Other than a ridiculous amount of t-shirts that never got further than my suitcase, I did manage to keep it quite condensed.

BLACK BEACH OUTFIT

Sunglasses - Skiathos, Top - Forever 21, Bikini - Primark, Trousers - H&M, Bag - Matalan, Birkenstocks - c/o Sarenza

I got pretty obsessed with these trousers whilst on holiday. To be fair, I'm a bit obsessed with all black trousers anyway. I probably own about 4 pairs (why?!) and I'm forever stopping myself from adding the latest must have version to my life - maybe I'm on a quest to find the perfect black trousers?! It definitely seems that way.

Anyhoo, these ones are just that cheap pair I wore a few posts previously (here). They were just right for wearing during the day over my swimming cozzie and dressing up for the evening. I dunno, I just think a high waist, loose black trouser is pretty flattering. Plus they go with the Birks that I cannot stop wearing!

My little ma plaited my hair for this post - I think she'd still quite like me to be the age when she'd do my hair in cutesy styles for school. I'm feeling a bit Lara Croft (the poor man's version..) but I do quite like it for a change. I'm such a creature of habit when it comes to my hair!

BEACH DAY OUTFIT

Sunglasses - Skiathos Town, Kimono - H&M, Bikini - c/o Beach Riot

After well over a year I finally found an opportunity to wear this kimono just how it should be worn. In some fabulous sunny setting with a tan. Big woo. I actually remember posting this bikini/kimono combo on Instagram sometime last summer.. now that really is planning in advance.

Keeping it short & sweet today as I don't want to ramble on about the irrelevant when there isn't much to this 'outfit'. I think this is more of a lifestyle post anyway - the snippets from my holiday that don't fit anywhere else. Still, they're pictures that I made my lovely Ma faff about taking before I let her sit down for a day of sunbathing.. plus she's a dab hand with that camera now!
