MY ESSENTIAL A/W ACCESSORIES

For me, Autumn/Winter is the season of accessories. We get wrapped up in layer upon layer, to the point that it has to be the little details that do the talking.. during winter half of the time my layer under my coat doesn't even get seen!
It is a random bunch, but I wanted to include a few traditional necessities & some not so obvious ones..

1. Lots of Chunky Jewellery
(La Moda, SheInside, Vintage, Blog Shop)
My main way of avoiding feeling dull in all the dark colours over A/W is adding something chunky jewellery wise. The four here are all ones I'd pop over a turtle neck or with a faux fur collar. I don't know, I guess they just stop everything being a bit too boring?! It's so easy to just forget about wearing pretty things when it's cold, I'd much rather focus on being warm.. But a glitzy necklace is just a little way of letting the chilly season know it hasn't beaten you. I WILL BE DRESSING PRETTY IN THE COLD. Ha.

2. Sunglasses
(Primark)
I'm sure that anyone who drives will understand this one. The sun is basically eye level & I'll spend the next few months squinting, doing my best to not mow down small children or the elderly. A good pair of sunnies are an essential, plus I can get away with wearing less makeup.. Always a plus!
3. Faux Fur
(Zara)
Faux fur will always be a winter staple. It just makes you feel cosy, but kind of glamorous at the same time. This Zara scarf is my favourite purchase of the season so far. It's SO soft.

4. A Large Bag
(Primark)
So, I'm carting around all these extra layers, then I go into a shop & I'm about to melt. Hence, the large bag to throw extra layers in. Mine has recently acquired two pairs of gloves, extra tights (just in case!) & a range of beanies.

5. Beanies
(H&M, Topshop)
My all time fave. I'm such a hat girl, and during A/W there is rarely a day when I don't have a beanie on my head. They're practical & there's so many different styles out there.. I'm lusting after this sparkly one from River Island at the moment. Isn't it girly beyond belief?!

P.S. The jewellery hanger in the first picture is missing paint, not dusty.. my ma would go ape if she thought I'd let you all assume we'd been slacking on the feather duster action! Ha.

LACE FLARES & BOYFRIEND COAT

Hat - H&M, Boyfriend Jacket - New Look, Jumper - Primark, Lace Flares - H&M, Heels - Missguided

So, the lace flares are making a return for another year. I actually took these pictures a few weeks ago (those trees are a lot less leafy now!), but I think it's still weather appropriate.. although I may have to add an extra pair of those cosy Primark tights underneath. That's when you know winter is back with a vengeance.. when it's a two pairs of tights kind of day.

I'm still spending half my life in this boyfriend coat. It's the perfect mix between a jacket and a coat, it's not too heavy but also doesn't make you look like you're been totally optimistic about the weather. Going back for a black version is way too tempting, but I'm stopping myself because I know the grey one will be neglected if I do.

On another, completely unrelated note.. Guess what? Only two days until we can break into those advent calendars. YAY chocolate for breakfast!

FASHION INFLUX DOES YOUTUBE?

So, as the title suggests, I started a YouTube channel. EEK.. Scary! Now for me (socially awkward, shy & very very 'Yorkshire'), that was a BIGGIE. I'd forever said never to YouTube, because to be honest, it scares the life out of me. I know the minute somebody says something mean I will be gutted, but in life I've learnt that it's difficult to please everybody. Philosophical moment for you there!

I don't really know what's made me finally go for it. I love blogging, it's been the perfect space for me to ramble on about all the things I love without having to be open to too much criticism. I doubt that I'll ever be an overly confident person, but I think that blogging has helped me to be a much better version of me.. maybe one that's less worried about life?! I don't know, I just think I'm ready to have a go at this. The post uni job hunt is getting me down, so I feel like an extra productive outlet can only help me feel a bit more positive.. I really don't want to spend my life moping about!

Anyway, have a watch if you fancy finding out a few random things about me. If any of you are YouTube veterans out there then tips would be wholeheartedly welcomed. I'm still getting used to it all.. it's so different to blogging! Oh & don't worry, I won't be letting this blog become about YouTube.. I'll be sticking to my usual posts. Just thought a few of you YouTube addicts (I'm one myself) might be interested.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER COMFORT

Jumper & Shorts - F&F, Mug - Starbucks
So, seeing as you see me dressed up all the time, I thought it wouldn't hurt to show you what winter comforts I'm going to be snuggling up in. I saw my first set of Christmas lights yesterday (eeek!) which I think means I'm allowed to start adding Christmas jumpers into my outfits.

Does anyone else just jump into some PJs the minute they get in out of the cold these days?! Girls, let's be honest,  one of the best feelings in the world is taking that bra off at the end of the day! I've extended that need for comfort by adding snuggly jumpers, bed socks & slouchy bottoms. T'is the season of piling on the pounds after all.. if that doesn't mean baggy clothing then I don't know what does?!

Today's Crimble jumper of choice is traditionally verging on tacky, but Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a little dash of tack. What more do you need than a good calorie loaded hot choc & fairy lights?

VELVET TWO PIECE

Choker - Vintage, Tooth Necklace - c/o Skinnie Belle, Two Piece - c/o Lashes of London, Heels - Boohoo

I feel like I've got the 80s Barbie look covered don't you think? I think it's the big hair, clashing colours & the white heels. I'll always be more of a 90s girl, but I don't mind dipping into a few 80s trends every now & then!

Lashes are covering my velvet A/W obsession. That's two outfits I've got that are going to be just right for the festive season that approaches.. I'm thinking the red dress (post here) for Crimble Eve, and this two piece for New Years Eve. It's a bit more 'party-fied'. It's okay to make up words to suit an outfit right?!

I stepped out of my silver jewellery comfort zone (I know, I'm living on the edge), and added this choker my mum's passed down to me and this toothy peg necklace from Skinnie Belle. It's so dainty, even with some creatures tooth dangling from it. Ha.

weekend outfit layouts

Outfit One: Top - Topshop, Beanie - Primark, Skirt - Primark
Outfit Two: Boyfriend Jacket - New Look, Turtle Neck - H&M, Skirt - Topshop, Glasses - Missguided, Watch - c/o Daniel Wellington

Now, I can assure you that I added extra layers to these outfits.. just there is no way of nicely photographing scrunched up tights. Ha. I added extra jackets, fur collars & even gloves. Practical or what?

The first outfit includes the lovely little daisy print top my ma got me for my birthday. It's one that I've been wearing with everything high waisted, hence the addition of the velvet skater skirt. I love wearing it tucked into high waisted black trousers as well.. the daisy print brightens up a dark bottom half.

Outfit Two revolved around my New Look boyfriend coat. It's so pretty that I do sometimes just seek out outfits that will look perfect with it. Ha. I love it with a turtle neck (I know.. I love everything with a turtle neck!), it just goes right with the lapels don't you think?

mesh layering & faux fur

Hat - Missguided, Mesh Top - Boohoo, White Shirt - Topshop, Coat - H&M, Skirt - Missguided, Boots - Topshop, Rings - Pandora
I love how Autumn posts look. The lighting is so much better, there's all these beautiful colours everywhere & I can't help but love the new leaf flooring we've got. Today felt like the perfect time to bring my big, fluffy, faux fur coat out of retirement.. just in time for the colder weather that's on its way.

Now, don't get me wrong.. I love this coat. However, it is the sort that makes me worry that I look like a blonde gorilla. With faux fur, there's always that difficult balance between looking cosy but cute, and not just like a rather round furry creature. I think this coat just about avoids that. Above all, it is warm. With winter so close, that's a priority!

The little Topshop shirt is one I picked up for the Cosmo Blog Awards. For me, spending £30 on a top is a lot! Fortunately, I love it just as much as I hoped I would and have been wearing it to death. Today I wore it over my much adored Boohoo mesh crop, but it's also been paired over turtle necks, with cardigans & on its own when I've dared going sleeveless. Why does the British winter have to be so chilly?!

new trench coat & velvet dress

Dress - c/o Lashes of London, Coat - H&M, Heels - Boohoo

Before I ramble on about anything, can we just take a moment to appreciate the new look on here?! What an improvement ey? I'd been wanted to get it looking all fancy for a few months and finally, it has been improved significantly. Fashion Influx is all grown up don't ya think?! Big thanks to the guys at Pipdig for making it all pretty for me (& saving me from a HTML induced breakdown).

You know when you have a shop that's basically your go-to for party outfits? Lashes of London is that shop for me. You can always find the sparkliest of sparkly dresses, bodycons with something a little different and two pieces that will triumph over all two pieces. Got a little carried away there. The velvet dress I'm wearing here is shouting 'Work's Xmas Do' at me. Nothing too eye popping for any straight laced bosses, but not a safe option either. I had to pop my new H&M coat over the top.. One, because it was freezing & two, because I have found my true coat shaped love. Black and slouchy without being completey shapeless. What a pretty thing.

Fashion Influx turns TWO!

Top - Topshop, Rings - Pandora, Choker - Ebay, Bangle - Pandora
Lippy - MAC Must Be Red
Mega Tasty Cake - c/o My Mumma and Marks&Sparks.. ha!

So, Fashion Influx has reached the two year milestone! Ahhh where does time go?! Now, this post may be a little naff, but I think it's nice to celebrate these things. My blog has done me the world of good, and for that, I think a little cake is deserved. When I told my ma that I'd been blogging two years this week, she tripped off to Marks' & fetched me this yummy treat and the number 2 candle. Forever thankful for having such a cute mamma.

My blogging year has been beyond anything I could have ever expected. I am incredibly proud of the work I've put into my blog and what it has lead to.. I'm not one to brag, but occasionally you do need to tell yourself 'well done girl!'. Fashion Influx won Highly Commended Best New Fashion Blog at the bloody Cosmo Awards.. who'da thought it?! Another highlight of the year (& my life) was getting to go to New York with their best bud (mamma bear deserved that trip for all her bloggy support!) thanks to Boohoo. Just a few weeks before I found out, we sat talking about how we weren't sure if we'd ever get to go to our dream city. It just shows you, if you put in the work, amazing things do happen.

I'm not sure where blogging will take me next, but even if it reverted back to just me & my nanna reading it, I would still be forever grateful for the two years I've had. Big thank you & lots of love for all your support over these two years, you've made my life a whole lot better! xo

P.S.. I know I'm totally going on here but expect a few changes on the blog, what better way to start another year of blogging?!

long sleeved crop & pleather leggings

Hat - H&M, Top - c/o Parody Clothing, Necklace - c/o Delilah Dust, Rings - Pandora, Leggings - H&M, Velvet Creepers - Topshop
Phone Case - Ebay

Sometimes I do just wear leggings & a top.. we all need a down day don't we?! The sort of outfit that doesn't mean you have to think much. I always think that that's what black leggings were for designed for. Our 'off' days.

I'm trying to stock up on long sleeved tops at the minute, so this Parody crop was much needed. I always get to winter & realise that I've forgot how rediculously cold it can get.. definitely not weather for short sleeves! I know that not all of my outfits look very practical for the colder season, but I usually end up layering up throughout the day. I've just bought the most amazing fur collar from Zara (let me know if you know what I'm on about.. they're beyond beautiful!), so I'll be adding that to keep my nanna from telling me that I'll catch my death.

Christmas & floral dungarees.. an odd mix?!

Jumper & Dungarees - c/o F&F

I know what you're thinking. It's the start of November, we've only just got Bonfire night out of the way & Lydia's rolled up on the blog with a Christmas jumper on. Yes, I may be thinking a little ahead, but I just know that in a blink of an eye Chrimble will be all over & I'll be sat here typing about the festivities that have been & gone.. which means it's time to start planning outfits!

Christmas jumpers are a bit of an anti-trend I think. Something that people think they should hate, but yet we all love them. They're a bit like the fashion world's Honey Boo Boo don't ya think? To be fair, this jumper isn't one of those mega 'Christmassy' ones.. it's more of an updated take on the traditionally tacky versions. I wanted to pop it with something that wasn't at all festive.. to show that you can actually wear them without looking like you've received the annual horrendous present from a relative you have no recollection of.

The dungarees for me were the perfect 'non festive' match. I never realised that Tesco did beauties like these!
