collar & velvet shirt

Collar - c/o Soomin, Shirt - Charity Shop, Bustier - John Lewis, Belt - Primark, Boots - Charity Shop

Apparently I really liked that playing with my hair pose. HA. I do these daft poses when I’m taking pictures & don’t actually realise what I’m doing.. standing like a dork in my garden pretending I’m casually faffing with my hair. Fingers crossed it’s only the local kitty cats that see me, opposed to my neighbours thinking I’m a complete weirdo.

I’ve added to my collar collection. This is a mega fancy pants one, definitely a step up from what you see on the high-street. Since my big wardrobe clear-out I’ve been looking for things to wear my old bustier with.. I thought the collar would be something different from my usual choker. Even I’m sick of seeing me in them!

The shirt & boots are both much loved charity shop purchases that you may have seen on my blog before. They’re reminding me just how good charity shopping can be. I think I may have to pop down to my local ones, armed with my hand wash for afterwards.. as much as I love them I do come out feeling a bit grossed out! Ha.

summer outfit layouts

Outfit One: Tie Dye Tee - Once Upon A Time, Jeans - Topshop, Satchel - c/o La Moda, Shoes - Converse
Outfit Two: Bralet - John Lewis, Shorts - Charity Shop & DIY, Choker - DIY, Watch - c/o Daniel Wellington, Head Band - Topshop
Outfit Three: Jumper - River Island, Sunglasses - H&M, Shorts - Charity Shop & DIY, Cuff - H&M, Boots - Aggy X Dr Martens
Outfit Four: Trousers - Charity Shop, Top - c/o Stone Fox, Shoes - Converse, Glasses - Missguided, Satchel - As Before

I was feeling summery today so thought I’d post a few outfit layouts for the sunshine season. I like to plan outfits sometimes, because I can be tempted to just grab the same old things that I always go for.

These outfits have shown me what a high waisted lover I am. To me, summer is all about fetching the high waisted shorts out of retirement. Time to dare bare the pins & slap on a bit of instant tan.. Whilst trying to not look like a Wotsit. The cream pair of short shorts are my favourites. They’re really soft & gradually get more & more frayed.. my nanna is dying to hem them!

Right, I'm off to go watch Honey Boo Boo. Anyone else think she is the best thing ever?!

charity shop trousers & off the shoulder top

Sunglasses - Primark, Choker - DIY, Necklace - Old, Top - c/o Once Upon A Time, Trousers - Charity Shop, Converse

This was one of those ‘I want to make myself look fancy’ days. Even though I was only dressing casual, I dolled myself up a bit more & curled my boring locks. For me, there’s something smart about curly hair. When I was little, I knew it was a ‘fancy’ occasion when I was allowed to have my hair curled.. school photo days anyone?! The rest of the time, my hair was in pigtails. There was no way my mamma was letting me get nits. Ha. Ramble sesh over.

This top is very me isn't it? Cropped, off the shoulder & tie dye, the combination of dreams. I do wear crop tops way too much, but that's probably because I have a lot of high waisted stuff. My smallest part is my waist, so I prefer to draw attention to that area. You gotta make the most of what you got right?!

mom jeans LOOKBOOK

MOM Jeans - Topshop
Outfit 1: Hat - H&M, Choker - DIY, Jumper - H&M, Belt - Primark, Creepers - Ebay
Outfit 2: Kitty Ears - c/o SheInside, Crop Top - Topshop, Jacket - River Island, Belt - As Before, Boots - Missguided
Outfit 3: Hat - My Pa's, Crop Top - Topshop, Belt - As Before, Shoes - Converse

My lovely mamma got me a pair of the Topshop MOM jeans as a post uni treat.. isn’t she a cool little lady?! As I’ve been wearing them way too much ever since, I thought I’d do a lookbook. They are the sort of thing that some people will love and some will hate, but I love them with just about everything. Plus, they’re not at all uncomfortable like I usually find jeans are. Yes, I have met my denim soul mate.

Outfits 1 and 3 are both pretty casual and how I will probably end up wearing them the most. I had to stop myself from just doing a lookbook that was MOM jeans with a range of crop tops.. typical Lydia. They do look great with something cropped though, a tiny bit of tum on show is cool with me! Outfit 2 is how I’ll probably end up wearing them for a slightly ‘smarter’ occasion.. a trip to Pizza Express or something like that (any excuse to rock the heels!).  I never thought of wearing the jeans with a blazer but I saw Milly from Pearls and Poodles look insanely pretty in a similar outfit & had to be a big copycat.

dip dye top & hounds tooth trousers

Glasses - Missguided, Choker - DIY, Top - DIY, Trousers - c/o Pretty Little Thing, Boots - Aggy X Dr. Martens

My big clothing clear out has led to me finding things I’d forgot I even had, this top being one of those items. I made it last year and always really liked how the dip dye turned out, baby pink and subtle.

When I wore this outfit I was having a ‘trousers day’. You know when you don’t want to be all girly and flouncy? I was off for a coffee at a garden center with my ma & pa (I know.. I tell you're all thinking 'how exciting!') and just felt like I wanted to be a bit smarter. I think trousers like this are just right for feeling a bit more put together.

Yes, I am wearing fake glasses in these pictures. It's not a trend I ever thought I'd catch on with, but I actually quite like them. They were only cheap, and as I am pretty sure I'm going blind I thought I'd see how I looked with gigs. I think I'll wear them now & then until I finally brave going to the opticians to be told I have the eyesight of a little mole.

minkpink dress & chunky boots

Dress - c/o Minkpink, Bag - Matalan, Bracelets - Primark (Old), Boots - Aggy X Dr. Martens

Minkpink are pretty hot right now, aren’t they? Their lookbooks constantly leave me wishing I was some cool as hell, California beach babe living the dream. Unfortunately, I’m a pretty dull Sheffield girl who spends most days dressing up with her cat. OH WELL. Maybe one day eh?!

I do love this little boho babe of a dress. The colour is enough to set off even the teeniest of tans. Got to love things that make you look less like the Corpse Bride. I stuck a belt around the middle as being the shorty that I am it kind of fell at a awkward length. I don’t think my legs have grown since I was about 12.. length ways anyhoo. Boo!

I’ve popped a few new things on my blog shop in the last few days if anyone is fancying a cheap treat. I’m always faffing around customising stuff, so it’s about time I sent some stuff to homes where they will be appreciated much more. Camo print, daisies & high waisted shorts are all on there at the mo.

maxi dress & leather jacket

Jacket - Topshop, Dress - c/o FCUK, Belt - Primark, Rings - H&M

How much better is this lighting?! Eeep! I’m so happy you can finally see what I look like.. Hopefully not quite as ghostly. My ma & pa recently repainted our shed and conveniently, it is the perfect blogging background. What do you guys think?! Obviously to this as a new background, not my ‘rents painting ability. Ha.

Now, I know I’m usually dressed quite casual, but this dress is definitely my sort of ‘fancy’ outfit. I keep floating around in it like I'm a modern day Elizabeth Bennet. GROW UP LYDIA. Ha. FCUK is on the pricier side, but I think it’s worth it for something that’s good quality and pretty timeless. It’s quite a classic summer dress that I can’t see going out of fashion any time soon. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.. which means I’ll be wearing this during the summer while ever I can fit my tush in it.

lust list: ebay goodies

Pretty random bunch of stuff I’m lusting after today. Once I get on eBay, I get carried away and my wish list gets longer and longer. This time I’ve tried to make sure a few of the bits are from UK sellers. Does anyone else get put off by ordering from some far away country and potentially having to wait 6 months (slight exaggeration) for it to arrive?! I have no patience.

The most random thing is probably the phone case. I know it’s a crazy concept that may shock some people, but some of us don’t have IPhones. Ha! I feel like those of us that are lacking in the IPhone department are somewhat neglected in the tacky phone case department. Boo. I saw this one that everyone was trying to get a few months ago for my phone & ordered it straight away.. I know I’m late jumping on that bandwagon but if I’ve got the opportunity to try pretend I’m as cool as Rihanna then I will definitely take it. Ha.

The polka dot platform trainers were another thing I got a bit too excited to find. Some of you may have seen me post a picture on Instagram of the Buffalo ones you can get at Topshop at the minute, they look practically the same but have a silly price tag attached. I ain’t paying over £100 for a pair of shoes that I’ll only be brave enough to wear on certain occasions! I think the ‘out there’ stuff is best bought cheap because it’s usually the things that are going to be the best thing since sliced bread one week then hiding in fashion archives another.

DIY leg chain outfit

Coat - Miss Selfridge, Oversized Tee - Urban Outfitters, Leg Chain - DIY, Platform Trainers - Charity Shop

Every so often, I get that craving for something crafty. I just have to sit faffing around with something, whether it’s making friendship bracelets or a floral headband. A few weeks ago I made this little leg chain, after spending a while looking for a new form of procrastination. It’s really simple to make so I’m not going to go into a whole ‘Step One – Trip to Hobbycraft blah di blah’ ha.. but here’s the gist of it.

All I did was create a couple of loops of chain (just cheap stuff from a craft shop) big enough to pop my leg through, then attached them to a longer strip that had a safety pin on the end. That way I can just attach it to some part of whatever I’m wearing that isn’t visible.. the lining of short pockets is a good one! You can make them way more fancy than I’ve done, I’m thinking of doing some one with little tassel-y bits on over the summer. So many DIYS & not enough time!

Right, that’s my blogging break from revision over. Boo. How’s everyone handling the horrible exam season?! All we’ve got to think is that it’ll all be done in no time & then it’s summer. YAY.

Oh & excuse the plucked chicken legs. I was being a little optimistic (as per) with getting the legs out.
